DAVID MCALLISTER
CAREERS CENTRE MANAGEMENT, TALENT2

David Mc Allister joined the recruitment industry in 1999 as a trainee temp consultant with Drake International and remembers the days when you managed your desk with a card system, used a DOS data base and candidates faxed their resumes.

Since this time David has worked in most sectors of recruitment and remains a generalist to help with his thirst for knowledge about the industry.
In 2006 David was offered the opportunity to participate in a new project with the NSW Government to provide an in-house recruitment service that had never been tried previously. Introducing private sector recruitment processes into this sector was a great challenge and led to many new programs that provided government hiring managers with a level of service and tools that they had not been used to before.

After 12 months in this project David returned to the external recruitment industry to lead the growth of the office and executive division in a major blue collar recruiter. The main achievement in this role was leading the team to the best ever results seen in this business.
In 2008 David joined a leading retail company in Brisbane to take on the role of Group Recruitment Manager. The focus in this role was to reduce agency spend, improve or replace the CRM, expand the teams commercial acumen, create a new recruitment process including writing interview guides for new managers nationally and personally recruit for senior retail roles and specialised support centre roles.

Following the success of completing the changes needed, David considered his options and in continuing his desire to always learn more about the recruitment industry David decided to learn more about RPO. In researching the market Talent2 became to company of choice and over the next 12 months with many discussions, the opportunity became available to head up the Talent 2 Careers Centre.

“Recruitment is about people, people make great organisations, and it is our role to be the link between the two”

Evolution of RPOs in Australia

615xRPO-Redux

RPO or Recruitment Process Outsourcing, a form of outsourcing where an employer transfers all or part of its recruitment functions to an external service provider, has been around for some time in Australia.

But very little data is available to gauge the size, prevalence, types and extent of RPO adoption by companies in Australia. Anecdotal evidences seem to suggest that adoption is increasing, driven in large part by the fact that there is no one-size-fits-all RPO model. In fact the type of RPO models differ across industry sectors and locations, influenced greatly by size of organisation, culture, volume of jobs and the expertise of suppliers.
